Overview

Kipp & Zonen's CGR4 is the best pyrgeometer currently available and is the choice for scientific use and in top level solar radiation monitoring networks such as the Baseline Surface Radiation Network (BSRN) of the World Meteorological Organisation. It is the partner for CMP11, CMP21 and CMP22 pyranometers.

The "-L" on a product model indicates that the cable length is specified at the time of order.

Detailed Description

The specially designed meniscus dome of Kipp & Zonen's CGR4 provides a 180º field of view with negligible directional response error. A hard-carbon coating on the outside of the dome smoothes the spectral response and provides extra protection to the silicon surface. The excellent thermal stability of the dome construction and coupling to the instrument body eliminates the need for dome temperature measurements or dome shading. The CGR4 can be fitted with the CVF4 ventilation unit to further improve its performance.

A waterproof socket is fitted for the signature yellow signal cable, which is available in a range of lengths pre-wired to the waterproof plug.

The integral bubble level is raised to the top of the housing and can be viewed without removing the redesigned snap-on sun shield, which also covers the connector. The connector with gold-plated contacts allows for easy exchange and re-calibration. The screw-in drying cartridge is easy to remove and the replacement desiccant is supplied in convenient refill packets.

Compatibility

Mounting

Kipp & Zonen's CGR4 has a bubble level and two leveling feet, which allow it to be leveled without using a leveling base. The 015 Mounting Arm can be used to mount the sensor to a mast or the CM225 Solar Sensor Mounting Stand can be used to attach the sensor to a mast, crossarm, or pole (1.0-in. to 2.1-in. outer diameter). The CM225 consists of rectangular plate, mounting bracket, U-bolts, lock washers, and nuts.

Alternatively, the CM245 Adjustable Angle Mounting Stand may be used. It includes slots that can be adjusted to any angle from horizontal to vertical. The L27084 can also be used to mount a pyranometer housed inside of the CVF4 heater/ventilator.
