NL201 in bridge mode with cr1000 connectiviry issues

mjtir Jul 17, 2023 11:11 AM

Hello,

Is there something i can try because the communication with the logger is problematic.

I'm losing packets while i ping also comparing with the 4g router has high latency 200ms vs 34ms.

Sometimes i can’t connect at all unless i remove the power cord and reconnect.

I can’t collect data, always times out.

Thanks in advance.

If you have other devices also connected to the CSIO port of the CR1000, that can cause problems like you described.

You can also see problems if the 4G router has a public IP address. Any public IP address receives a lot of random network traffic from hacking attempts. The CR1000 does not have enough processing power to handle a large amount of network traffic. Security settings in the router to filter incoming connections would improve performance.

Hello ,

All my loggers cr1000s and cr800s are connecting through vpn .

I did not have any problem with cr1000 and NL115 or CR800 and NL201.

Same 4g router same configuration.

This is the first time i try cr1000 with NL201 , in bridge mode as always .

There is nothing else on CSIO .

If the data logger program keeps the CR1000 very busy, it would slow down communication.

You can also do an IP trace log in the datalogger to see if there is a network issue slowing the connection. IP trace settings are in advanced settings of the data logger. It requires a network engineer to understand the contents of the trace.

Latency >200ms was common with 3G modems. It is fast enough for the data volume of most weather stations.

If the latency is a big problem, and can't be solved, a CR1000X should perform better. CR1000X has a lot more processing power than a CR1000.
