connect to sm4 with sc932A?

furban Jul 17, 2023 06:29 PM

I have some sm4 storage modules I need to connect to in order to pull whatever data is on them.

I no longer have a sc32A and do not have a sc32B either- I do have some sc932A interfaces- is it possible to use one somehow to connect to and pull the data via SMS or Loggernet?   I have a CR10X I could plug into and a CR1000x as well- thank you and let me know

I female to female null modem cable will work with a SC932A to connect a PC to a CR10X. I do not know if SMS will work without issue.

I have used the SMS sw often to download data from the SM4M module via the CR10/CR10X. Even in the field it is the most practical solution. Otherwise in the office without CR10/CR10X some specific interface is needed. The SC932 connects the CSIO port of the logger to the modem so with a null modem cable you can use it to connect a pc to the logger. To use the SC932 with memory modules it would be necessary to do some inversion of the pins of the CSIO connector, certainly TX and RX and maybe more. A CSIO side power supply will also be needed for the missing 5V. In the withdrawn manuals look for the SC532, there is also the wiring diagram

https://s.campbellsci.com/documents/eu/manuals/sc532%20-%20007.pdf

Then connect the memory module to the CR10/10X via the 3 connectors cable (SC12 may be), 2 female and one male.

The male connected to the CSIO port of the logger and one female to the SM4M and the other female to the SC932.

Via a NULL RS232 cable connect the SC932 to the PC and in the SMS SW select the option of the connection made through the logger.
