PPP over ethernet

Benjamin.vial Dec 15, 2023 10:17 AM

Hi,

I'm try to connect a CR300 with a PPP connexion throug a routeur (NetModule N1601) that can manage PPP but over ethernet (PPPoE - different from PoE of course). So I think I had to make a special cable RJ45 to DB9, but I can't figure the pinout diagram. There are plenty of cable in this configuration on the net but most of the time that's for a special device, so it's not works for the CR300.

But, over all this problematic, I'm trying (very hardly) to make it works because I'm expecting obtain a HTTP webpage of the CR300, a friend tell me it was possible with PPP connexion, can you confirme, please ? For knowing if I make all this effort for nothing ...

Thanks.

you cannot transform the DB9 of the CR300 with RS232 protocol with a simple cable into RJ45 ethernet protocol. There is the CR310 which has already the Ethernet port or transform the RS232 port of the CR300 into Ethernet via the NL201 device.

Hi,

thanks Smile. I'll try a different approach with a Ercogener modem with a DB15 connector (like VGA), that can get RS232 protocol and some more features.

I have to find a solution cause I have something like 3 or 4 CR300 in stock, replaced by CR310 but, it will be a shame if we doesn't use the 300 anymore. And, because of our retrieve script routine based on WGET method, we have to get a http page. Our nationals servers gets data this way now.

bye
