Pakbus Query.

cellectronic Apr 27, 2016 11:18 AM

Hi All

Our system consists of 2 CR1000s each with an NL115 and connected to the same local network.

If we wish to connect to either logger from outside the local network (say another country) would this be possible if both loggers had the same IP and port number  with different Pakbus addresses or would they need different IP addresses ?

Thanks for any support.

They will have different local IP addresses. If they are behind a router, you need to set port forwarding rules in the router for each. It is not necessary to change what port the dataloggers listen on, but you need the router to forward unique ports to individual IP addresses.

Example forwarding rules:

Router Port 6785 >>> Logger A Local IP Address, Port 6785

Router Port 6784 >>> Logger B Local IP Address, Port 6785

To connect to Logger B, you would use the IP address of the router and port 6784.

Unique Pakbus addresses are recommended.
