Cannot poll logger, strange error message

Marcel Aug 2, 2016 02:14 PM

Hi

I have a network with lots of loggers. Since a few week, LoggerNet is having trouble polling the data of one of them. It's a CR10x. LoggerNet (4.4.1) show the following error message in the communication log:

"2016-08-02 2:35:27 PM","5PUZ2","F","Classic::CommandG","new position <> argument","7","28121"

It happened suddenly and the only way I found to get it working again is removing the logger from LoggerNet and adding and configuring it again. Then it worked again for about 2 weeks, now I get the same error message again.

Any clue what's wrong?

Cheers, Marcel

The message is a result of an attempt to set the datalogger modem pointer (the "G" command) to a location of 28121.  The datalogger responds with a location of 7.  LoggerNet expects these values to match and, since they don't, it indicates that there is some sort of problem and it aborts collection on that final storage area.  The position that LoggerNet specifies is related to the filled value that the datalogger returns from the "A" command and the last position that was collected from the final storage area.  I suspect that there may be some sort of corruption in the CR10X flash storage in order for this to occur.

To resolve the memory corruption on the CR10X:

Collect all the data you can.

Make sure you have a copy of the datalogger program and the settings from the logger.

Check the lithium battery voltage, and replace if low.

Use Device Configuration Utility to update the operating system with the latest OS version available on our website.

Reload the program and settings.
