The new COM9602 SBD Modem combined with one of Campbell Scientific's Data Services SBD Plans provides a simple and cost-effective way to transmit small data messages. The COM9602 enables short burst data message transmissions from a remote Campbell Scientific datalogger via the Iridium satellite network and the Internet. SBD is useful for environmental monitoring, transportation, oil and gas, maritime, and agricultural applications.
The COM9602 supports machine to machine services and does not use a SIM card. Each data message from the remote system is sent as an email to a specified address. In most applications there will be a need for automated data retrieval, which requires the transfer of email data to a database. Campbell Scientific Data Services offers customized data management solutions to assist with the collection, hosting, storage, and processing of Short Burst Data with the goals of simplifying the process for the client and providing ongoing support.
The wide operating temperature range, low-power consumption, and robust design make this modem a suitable communications option in remote locations, no matter how harsh the environment. The combination of wide-spread network coverage and the low-cost Short Burst Data provides a practical solution for monitoring stations anywhere in the world; the COM9602 can be an effective solution where GOES or cellular networks simply do not reach, or are not flexible enough to meet your needs.
